Types Of Plastic Molds

Plastic molds are widely used in major domestic markets. There are also many types of plastic molds. Here are the different types of plastic molds:

According to different molding methods, the types of plastic processing molds corresponding to different process requirements can be divided into the following six different mold types:

1. Plastic injection (plastic) mold

The processing equipment corresponding to the plastic injection mold is a plastic injection molding machine, and its structure is usually composed of molding parts, a gating system, guide parts, an ejection mechanism, a temperature adjustment system, an exhaust system, support parts, and other parts. The manufacturing materials usually use plastic mold steel modules, and the commonly used materials are mainly carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel, alloy tool steel, high-speed steel, etc. The injection molding processing method is usually only suitable for the production of thermoplastic products. The plastic products produced by the injection molding process are very common. From daily necessities to various complex machinery, electrical appliances, vehicle parts, etc. are all molded by injection molds.

2. Plastic compression mold

Including compression molding and injection molding two structural mold types. They are a type of mold mainly used to form thermosetting plastics, and the corresponding equipment is a pressure molding machine. The compression mold is mainly composed of cavity, feeding cavity, guiding mechanism, ejection parts, heating system and so on. Injection molds are commonly used in the packaging of electrical components. The materials used in the manufacture of compression molds are basically the opposite of those used in injection molds.

3. Plastic blister mold

It is a kind of mold that uses plastic plates and sheets as raw materials to form some more complex plastic products. When heated and hardened, it deforms and sticks to the cavity of the mold to obtain the desired molded product. It is mainly used in the production of some daily necessities, food, and toy packaging products. Because the pressure of the plastic mold is low during molding, the mold material is mostly made of cast aluminum or non-metallic materials, and the structure is relatively complicated.

4. Plastic extrusion mold

Also known as an extrusion molding head, it is widely used in the processing of pipes, rods, monofilaments, plates, films, wire and cable coatings, and profiled materials. The corresponding production equipment is a plastic extruder, and its manufacturing materials mainly include carbon structural steel, alloy tools, etc. The extrusion process is usually only suitable for the production of thermoplastic products.

5. Plastic blow mold

It is a mold used to form plastic container hollow products (such as beverage bottles, daily chemical products, and other packaging containers). The blow molding methods mainly include extrusion blow molding hollow molding and injection blow molding hollow molding according to the process principle. , Injection stretch blow molding hollow molding (commonly known as "injection stretch blow"), multi-layer blow molding hollow molding, sheet blow molding hollow molding, etc. The equipment corresponding to the blow molding of hollow products is usually called a plastic blow molding machine, and blow molding is only suitable for the production of thermoplastic products. The structure of the blow mold is relatively complicated, and the materials used are mostly made of carbon.

6. High foam polystyrene molding mold

The principle is that expandable polystyrene can be steam-formed in the mold, including two types of simple manual operation mold and hydraulic machine straight-through foam plastic mold, which are mainly used for packaging products in consumer industrial products. The materials for making such molds include cast aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, etc.
